Overview

Are you detail-oriented, organized, and ready to make an impact? The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking a Procurement Specialist 1 to support our Maintenance and Repair Shop operations. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring our fleet and equipment stay in top condition by managing procurement, inventory, and vendor relationships. Shift Requirements

Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM; travel as assigned

As a Procurement Specialist 1

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Research & Procurement:
    Source parts and materials, compare pricing, and prepare quotes.
  • Purchasing:
    Write requisitions, use P-Card for purchases, and maintain records.
  • Order Fulfillment:
    Package and ship orders; resolve vendor issues.
  • Inventory Management:
    Conduct inventories, reorder supplies, and organize stock.
  • Financial Oversight:
    Manage accounts payable/receivable, reconcile statements, and enter data.
  • Administrative Support:
    Answer phones, greet customers, and track project spending.
  • Material Handling:
    Operate DOT vehicles and forklift for deliveries.

  • Ability to perform basic math and inventory control
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
Special Requirements
  • Possess at the time of hire and maintain class C Operator driver’s license.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

  • Four years of full-time work experience in the procurement of standardized, expendable/non-expendable items.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in business or public administration, accounting, or economics.
  • A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
