Monday-Friday 7:45 am-4:00 pm, 9.5 month position
SummaryUnder the direct supervision of the High School Principal and other school administrators, the Campus Monitor is responsible for monitoring and supporting students in the hallway, during lunch, and before/after school to ensure a safe, secure, and comfortable environment conducive to student interaction and learning.
Responsibilities- Physically patrols the school, parking lot, and school grounds, ensuring a safe environment.
- Supervises students before and after school, during lunch, and during passing times.
- Supports students in following school rules and school behavior expectations.
- Intervenes to prevent and resolve conflict between students, reporting to administration as appropriate.
- Works with other school staff to ensure a sufficient level of supervision coverage in all areas including the lunch room, hallways, and/or parking lot.
- Identifies and reports security or safety hazards.
- Completes incident reports, as needed.
- Assists law enforcement personnel upon request.
- Notifies police, fire department, or other authority of any situation requiring immediate attention.
- Gives directions or acts as a guide to authorized visitors.
- Administers first-aid, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- First Aid Certification upon hire.
- Ability to interact positively and professionally with students, parents, staff, and community members from various backgrounds.
- High degree of approachability and accessibility.
- Initiative to identify and address potential concerns involving students.
- Evidence of excellent interpersonal problem-solving and de-escalation techniques.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with the entire school community.
- Sound judgment and interpersonal problem-solving ability.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in an efficient and timely manner.
- Evidence of successful previous experience with secondary students.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be reliable and exhibit consistent attendance.
- Ability to create a sense of belonging and welcoming environment for students and staff.
