Job DescriptionThe Ivy College of Business is seeking an Alumni Relations Specialist II to strengthen connections between alumni and Ivy students, faculty, and staff. The position works closely with college and department leadership, key faculty and staff, the ISU Foundation, and university partners to enhance alumni engagement across the college’s academic and administrative units. The Specialist leads efforts to identify and cultivate relationships with alumni, provides strategic consultation to departments on alumni engagement, and creates opportunities for alumni to support current students through mentoring.
Responsibilities include overseeing the planning and execution of alumni events on campus and outside the state of Iowa, and serving as the college’s liaison to internal and external alumni organizations. The position presents strategic guidance to the Dean and reports to the Dean, with possible extensive travel.
- Build and maintain relationships with distinguished alumni to support engagement and mentorship initiatives.
- Serve as the college liaison for alumni relations and represent the college at key events.
- Advise departments on alumni engagement strategies and advisory council development.
- Plan, execute, and assess alumni events as suggested by the Dean.
- Maintain alumni records and support alumni data requests.
- Master’s degree in higher education administration, business administration, communications, public relations, nonprofit management, marketing, organizational leadership, or a closely related field.
- Experience building and managing relationships with alumni, volunteers, donors, and other external stakeholders to advance engagement initiatives.
- Demonstrated project management experience leading cross-functional teams and coordinating staff, volunteers, committees, advisory groups, and stakeholders to achieve strategic goals and organizational objectives.
- Experience planning, coordinating, and executing events and programs for external audiences, including alumni, donors, community partners, and members.
- Proficiency using CRM systems and engagement databases to track relationships, manage outreach efforts, and develop data-informed engagement strategies.
Part‑time position scheduled to work approximately 20 hours per week, with flexibility based on departmental needs and candidate availability.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
