The Assembly Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading the Assembly Engineering Team, including Automation Technicians, in the Ames plant. The Engineering Manager will have accountability to metrics within the Operations team by driving operational excellence with improved metric performance. The Engineering Manager will coach their team to ensure they are optimizing throughout our operations along with introducing technology.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

• Securing performance in the plant regarding Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Customer Satisfaction
• Developing and managing manufacturing operations to achieve Manufacturing Excellence. This will involve the appropriate application of a wide variety of business improvement tools with this Danfoss Business Systems toolkit to maximize synergies and reduce cost through waste reduction, inventory management and improvement of flow.
• Leading and developing entire team including coaching/developing engineers on large projects (project management)
• Creating Cap Ex budget and holding teams accountable to attaining
• Developing a pipeline of talent for Danfoss
• Coordinate all Engineering actions, leads by example and displays strong shop floor presence.

• Identifying and Leading Kaizens - Ensure achieving and sustaining results.
• Creates and has accountability to roadmaps. Drives accountability of Value Stream Map activities - Quantify projects, ensure completion of projects, and ensure sustainable results of our projects.
• Introduce technology and global innovation into our operations.
• Provides & facilitates communications amongst team members, between teams, other areas and with customers.
• Actively involved in new product features and introductions including the analysis and implementation
• Proactively reviewing capacity of assembly lines while creating/implementing the equipment heat map action plan to minimize business interruption risk

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Business, or similar
• Minimum of 5 years’ operations experience and excellent understanding of Lean Manufacturing philosophy, tools, and methods
• Multiple years of experience leading engineers or a technical team
• Demonstrated strong project management skills
• Lean experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Managerial experience in a large- or medium-sized manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
• Knowledge in the fields of electrical, mechanical, pneumatics and hydraulics is preferred but not required.
• Prior experience working in a matrix environment is desirable.
