Danfoss Power Solutions in Ames, IA is seekign an experienced Prodcut Engineer to support our hydraulic systems division. The Product Engineer will develop effective verification plans using DFMEA, design reviews, and expert input, and execute tests and analyze engineering data; write effective test requests; analyze data and present results to the organization and customers in support of engineering, operations, and procurement projects.
What You’ll Be Doing- Create designs for new hydraulic pump and motor product features and implement modifications to improve existing designs
- Initiate and execute project plans, including scheduled actions and resources
- Perform and document design calculations and verify all necessary tolerance stack ups for new designs and design revisions
- Develop effective verification plans using DFMEA, design reviews, and expert input, and execute tests and analyze engineering data
- Write effective test requests; analyze data and present results to the organization and customers in support of engineering, operations, and procurement projects
- Work on model-based design tools such as Matlab/Simulink/CAD; maintain product design control and follow through on engineering changes, and verify documentation is complete
- Solve functional, application, or production problems related to the design of hydraulic pumps and motors and their interactions with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Develop original or innovative approaches to hydrostatic product design, cost reduction, and problem solving; resolve product performance issues through team-oriented problem solving and document according to the 8d process for root cause
- Provide hydrostatic technical support for and collaborate with internal organizations such as manufacturing, marketing, service, product support, and purchasing, as well as external customers and suppliers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Agricultural Engineering.
- 4 years of experience in developing and testing to validate system performance
- 3 years of experience with hydraulic systems and the respective components
- 3 years of experience with 3D CAD software (e.g. NX, Creo, or Solid Works).
- 2 years of experience with PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Enovia).
- 3 years of experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and DFMEA
- 3 years of experience taking designs from concept through to production
