Operations Manager – Lawn Care & Landscaping

A growing lawn care and landscaping company in Ames, Iowa, is hiring an operations Manager to run day-to-day field operations. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who knows the green industry, can lead crews, and keep jobs moving!

• Run daily mowing and lawn care operations
• Schedule crews, manage routes, and handle call‑offs
• Lead crews in the field when needed
• Oversee fertilizer/chemical applications and compliance
• Keep equipment running and manage shop maintenance
• Train, coach, and hold employees accountable
• Fix problems fast—crews, equipment, or customers
• Help with snow and winter operations
• Be on call during peak season

• 5+ years of lawn care/landscaping experience
• Proven crew leadership (foreman, lead, or ops role)
• Strong knowledge of mowing and fertilizer programs
• Mechanical skills and equipment experience
• Can make decisions and take ownership
• Comfortable using scheduling and routing software
• Valid driver’s license
• 3OT License (or ability to maintain)

• $25–$30/hour (salaried), based on experience
• 50–60 hours/week in peak season
• PTO, health & dental insurance

• Raises and bonuses based on performance
