Practical Farmers of Iowa – Data Stewardship and Reporting Manager

About the Position

The Farm Viability Department supports farmers with personalized services, innovative on‑farm practices, market development, and comprehensive farm business plans. You will lead the new Data Stewardship and Reporting sub‑department, ensuring clean data systems that enhance customer service for participants and streamline reporting to funders.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate teamwork within the Data Stewardship and Reporting sub‑department.
  • Ensure coverage of inbound and outbound engagement activities across the team.
  • Maintain consistent data entry across intake, surveys, and participation workflows.
  • Support data cleanup, enrichment, and validation activities.
  • Oversee intake, enrollment, and participation coordination workflows.
  • Coordinate large‑batch payment processing by preparing and validating participant data.
  • Manage contractors, staff members, volunteers, and partners conducting data stewardship projects.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of member profiles.
  • Align engagement data with reporting requirements.
  • Oversee Fieldprint Calculator data collection and handoff to operations team members.
  • Lead data stewardship and reporting projects.
  • Ensure smooth execution of participant‑facing program workflows from intake through completion.
  • Provide clear outputs, next steps, and referrals during participant interactions.
  • Maintain consistency across farm viability programs.
  • Coordinate cross‑team handoffs for continuity in participant experience.
  • Facilitate collaboration between departments to achieve project deliverables.
  • Support coordination with program, communications, development, and operations staff.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and participant experience across teams.
  • Support smooth handoffs between engagement, program, and technical staff.
  • Share engagement insights to inform organizational alignment and communication.
  • Design and implement efficient processes for farm viability work.
  • Oversee multichannel engagement (email, text, phone, inbox systems).
  • Respond timely and appropriately to participant inquiries.
  • Manage escalation pathways between data stewardship and farm viability staff.
  • Maintain standards for tone, responsiveness, and member experience.
  • Monitor engagement workflows for consistency and efficiency.
  • Identify bottlenecks and challenges in participation processes.
  • Recommend process improvements for system‑level implementation.
  • Support consistent execution of standardized engagement procedures.
  • Ensure engagement practices align across farm viability programs.
  • Manage capacity and budget to complete work efficiently.
  • Provide enrollment and participation data to finance and operations teams for payments.
  • Coordinate closely with finance and operations teams.
  • Monitor enrollment and participation levels relative to program capacity.
  • Facilitate data availability for cash‑flow planning and payment timing decisions.
  • Other duties as assigned or volunteered to support department or team projects.
Required Qualifications and Characteristics
  • Understanding of member or participant engagement workflows.
  • Familiarity with program operations in nonprofit or agricultural systems.
  • Working knowledge of data collection, tracking, and basic reporting concepts (including data visualization and interpretation).
  • Understanding of cross‑functional program coordination.
  • Awareness of confidentiality and compliance expectations in data handling.
  • Strong multichannel communication management (email, phone, text, inbox systems).
  • Ability to coordinate complex workflows across multiple stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail in record‑keeping and data accuracy.
