Chemical Technician II - Bulk Solutions - 2nd Shift - Mon-Thurs

Overview

Chemical Technician II – Bulk Solutions, 2nd Shift (2:00PM–12:00AM CT, Monday–Thursday) at the Ames Manufacturing Support Team in Ames, IA.

• Manufacture bulk solutions per existing formularies.
• Perform production controls and adjust bulk reagents to meet product specifications.
• Release conforming materials for processing, packaging, or stock in a timely manner.
• Operate and maintain manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain clean production and laboratory areas.
• Follow production schedule and communicate roadblocks to leadership and downstream pack lines.
• Comply with company safety policies, including PPE usage, safe handling of bulk chemicals, hand‑tool safety, lock‑out/tag‑out, and proper tool storage.
• Adhere to good housekeeping policies.
• Keep accurate production and inventory records; follow kanban process.
• Accurately perform required computer data entry and work‑order transactions (LOTS, scrap, Oracle, Kanban).
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities.

• Minimum 1year of completed college chemistry with lab experience.
• Minimum 1year of scientific production, process, or lab‑technician experience, or a Bachelor of Science degree with no experience.
• Strong laboratory technique and strong analytical skills (volumetric glassware, standard solutions, dilutions, titrations).
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Occasionally reach, squat, turn/twist, or operate with hands and arms.
• Constantly sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20lb; occasionally up to 50lb.
• Must use hands for handling objects, computer keyboards, and typing.
• Required visual abilities: close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, and limited workspace. Noise level may occasionally be loud. Proper PPE (eye, hearing, respirator, smock, steel‑toe shoes, gloves, hard hat, or face shield) is required; contacts are not allowed.

USD $27.00 per hour; total compensation may be higher based on experience, shift, and other factors. Eligible for bonus pay.
