Job Title:

Converting Operator Job Description

The Converting Operator operates production machinery used for flexible packaging, including labels and printed boxes, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and cleanliness. This role involves setting up and running converting equipment, handling and inspecting plates used as molds, and ensuring all mounting equipment and work areas remain clean and organized throughout the shift.

Responsibilities
  • Operate converting machinery used for flexible packaging, including labels and printed boxes, according to production specifications and safety standards.
  • Set up, utilize, and maintain mounting equipment, ensuring it remains in proper working condition and is cleaned throughout the shift.
  • Handle plates used as molds, including retrieving, installing, and removing them as part of the production process.
  • Clean plates thoroughly before storing them to ensure they are ready for future print runs.
  • Inspect each plate prior to use to confirm it meets quality and production requirements for the upcoming print run.
  • Monitor machine performance during production runs and make adjustments as needed to maintain product quality and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot machinery and production line issues as they arise, escalating concerns when necessary to minimize downtime.
  • Use a tape measure accurately to verify dimensions and ensure products meet required specifications.
  • Follow established procedures for assembly and production tasks to support consistent, high-quality output.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including equipment and surrounding production space, throughout the shift.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and support a strong, cooperative team culture.
Essential Skills
  • At least 6+ months of machine operation experience, preferably in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 1+ year of experience working within a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to operate production machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for measurements and quality checks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machinery and production line issues when needed.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical equipment and tools.
  • Experience with assembly or production line work.
  • Strong attention to detail when inspecting plates, equipment, and finished products.
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness of equipment and work area throughout the shift.
  • Willingness and ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift as scheduled.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Press Operator experience is a plus and will be considered an advantage.
  • Comfort working in a smaller, close-knit, family-oriented company.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic, with a commitment to working hard during scheduled hours.
  • Ability to adapt to different shifts, including initial training on 1st shift.
  • Good communication skills to work effectively with team members and leadership.
