Outreach Coordinator

Iowa State University's Public Science Collaborative (PSC), located within the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice, is seeking a collaborative, relationship-focused Outreach Coordinator to help translate research into action. In this role, you'll work across multiple projects, partnering with communities and organizations to deliver timely, data-informed solutions that address emerging needs and improve community well-being.

As the Outreach Coordinator, you'll serve as a primary liaison between PSC and community partners, coordinating outreach, training, and technical assistance while helping translate research into practical resources that improve community well-being. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships and helping communities turn data into action.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain partnerships with community-based organizations, state and local agencies, behavioral health partners, and local coalitions to identify outreach, training, and technical assistance needs.
  • Plan and facilitate trainings, webinars, workshops, and collaborative meetings that help partners quickly translate research and data into community action.
  • Coordinate outreach, communication, and technical assistance across multiple concurrent projects, and ensure partners have the resources they need to respond to emerging community needs.
  • Create and disseminate data-driven communication products, including dashboards, infographics, newsletters, and other resources that help organizations communicate their impact.
  • Cultivate and coordinate a network of guest speakers and subject matter experts to support PSC educational programming and technical assistance.
  • Evaluate outreach activities and trainings to ensure they meet program goals, stakeholder needs, and desired outcomes.
  • Maintain public-facing websites and digital communication channels, and represent PSC at conferences, community meetings, and outreach events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with community-based organizations, behavioral health partners, public health agencies, state or local government, or community coalitions, particularly within Iowa.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and facilitating trainings, workshops, webinars, or community engagement events.
  • Experience developing or communicating data-informed resources, such as dashboards, infographics, reports, or other tools that help stakeholders understand and use data.
  • Knowledge of community health, behavioral health, or community well-being initiatives.
  • Experience working in or alongside programs related to substance use prevention, recovery, or behavioral health.

Why Join Us?

Join a team where research leads to real-world impact. The Public Science Collaborative (PSC) partners with communities, government agencies, and organizations to transform research into practical solutions that improve community health and well-being. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to multiple projects, collaborate with a wide range of partners, and see your work make a difference in communities across Iowa.

As the Outreach Coordinator, you'll connect partners with the training, resources, and data they need to address real-world challenges. If you're energized by collaboration, relationship building, and translating research into meaningful action, you'll find a rewarding career where your work makes a lasting impact.
