About the RoleThe Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician. Responsibilities include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, notifying donors of unsuitable test results, following plasma collection regulations and SOPs, and providing center‑level support for environmental, health, and safety (EHS).
How You Will Contribute- Determine donor eligibility, including management of informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions at the facility; apply SOPs for medical emergencies, coordinate with the Center Physician’s standing orders, and transport donors to emergency care.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues concerning donor safety and eligibility.
- Support hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and consult occupational health or EHS regarding further evaluation.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate‑level nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment:
Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA). - Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
U.S. hourly wage range: $33.44 – $45.98. The actual wage offered may vary based on qualifications, experience, and location.
