About the Role

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician. The role involves determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. The Specialist must be familiar with plasma collection industry regulations and perform center‑level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS) matters.

Responsibilities
  • Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
  • Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies and development of Center Physician standing orders, including donor transport to emergency care facilities.
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs with unacceptable findings or guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
  • Support hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation by occupational health/ER, following EHS guidance.
  • Act as a pandemic coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations associated with pandemic threats as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
  • Current license or certification in the state of assignment:
    Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Complete FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
  • Benefits & Compensation
    • Hourly wage range: $33.44 - $45.98. Actual wage may vary based on qualifications and experience.

    • Up to 80 hours of sick time per calendar year; new hires accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
