Job Title

Under general direction, protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities. Prevents illness and injury. Alleviates suffering through the diagnosis and treatment. Advocates for patients and their families. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care.

Unit Specific Position Responsibilities

Administers moderate and deep sedation medication and monitors patient according to clinical guidelines.
Assists Radiologist and X-Ray staff with procedures.
Assists with vascular access for all patients throughout the medical center, such as IVs, Midlines, and PICC Lines.
Prepares sterile tray for procedure and ensures aseptic technique and safety practices are followed.
Demonstrates safe radiation safety practices.
Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):

Licensed as a Registered Nurse and authorized by the State of Iowa to practice nursing or has active multistate license approved by the Nurse Licensure Compact.
Achievement of Baccalaureate degree in nursing within 6 years of hire if hired after January 1, 2014.
Basic Life Support (BLS) training, or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
Mandatory Reporter training or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
Completion of Basic EKG class within 6 months of hire.

Organizational Requirements:

Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in nursing.
Professional certification in nursing specialty.
Critical Care Experience
EKG Class
ACLS

Ability to read and understand chart documentation.
Ability to demonstrate basic computer skills.
Ability to read, write and understand the English language.
A minimum of 1 year of experience in nursing.

Preferred Knowledge,

Skills & Experience:

Previous experience in interventional radiology nursing.
