Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking a researcher to study the immunology of animal and human infectious diseases, with expertise in virology and immunological techniques. The research associate will lead investigations into immunomodulatory strategies to enhance resistance to respiratory diseases in both animal and human populations, including in vitro screening of candidates and testing in animal models (murine, ruminant). The candidate will collaborate closely with the PI and students and will have the opportunity to participate in multiple research projects.
Training on working with murine and ruminant animals, flow cytometry, and other immunology techniques will be provided. The individual will contribute to writing manuscripts and reports, share research findings, and will have opportunities for training in grant writing.

RequiredMinimum Qualifications
PhD in Microbiology, Immunology, Preventive Medicine, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications- Three or more years of experience working with in vitro models, including epithelial and immune cell cultures and viability assays, as well as BSL-2+ viral pathogens.
- At least two years of experience working on animal models of infectious disease (murine/ruminant).
- Over two years of experience in immunology techniques such as qRT‑PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, cell sorting, MACS, and multiplex assays.
- Experience mentoring and collaborating with undergraduate and graduate students.
- Proven track record in preparing scientific manuscripts.
Veterinary Microbiology and Preventive Medicine has a three-tiered mission of teaching, research, and service is supported by a highly productive faculty, energetic graduate students, and the additional expertise of adjunct faculty. Our research focuses on improving animal health, public health, and food safety. Our faculty have instructional responsibilities in bacteriology, immunology, virology, microbiology, epidemiology, and public health.
