Job Description:
The Aquatic and Wetland Research Laboratory at Iowa State University is a state-certified lab that monitors water quality in aquatic systems across Iowa. We partner with various state and federal agencies on several long-term lake, riverine, and wetland monitoring projects. The data collected in these projects is used for a variety of purposes, including Clean Water Act compliance and tracking progress in nutrient reduction.
The chosen candidate will assist with processing water-quality samples for several water-quality research projects, including a large-scale limnological survey to assess the water quality of Iowa's lakes. This entry-level position requires some professional and technical skills while working under general supervision. The successful applicant will receive on-the-job training.
The successful applicant will:
* Be able to work independently with minimal supervision
* Be attentive to details, and be able to follow the strict protocols required of a state-certified water quality laboratory
* Have strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills
* Be willing to work flexible daily and weekly schedules, up to 40 hours per week General
Position Responsibilities:
* Prepare and analyze water samples following strict standard operating procedures for a number of analytes
* Log and organize data and observations
* Operate and maintain water quality analysis equipment, including spectrophotometers, titrators, fluorometers, and vacuum pumps, among other equipment
* Laboratory upkeep, including washing lab dishes## Proposed
