Construction Laborer

Carpenter / Concrete Worker / Steel Erector

Key Responsibilities

• Perform demolition, excavation, earthwork, and site preparation.
• Place, finish, and cure concrete for foundations and slabs.
• Complete framing, rough and finish carpentry, and installation of walls and ceilings.
• Assist with steel erection and welding as needed.
• Read layouts, measurements, and basic construction drawings.
• Use hand tools and help guide equipment operators.
• Work safely and collaboratively with crews of 3-10 employees.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of carpentry experience (residential or commercial).
• 2+ years of construction experience in framing, concrete, or related trades.
• Ability to read measurements and basic construction plans.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Proficiency with basic construction hand tools.
• Strong teamwork and willingness to perform a variety of construction tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Commercial construction experience.
• Concrete finishing, framing, or carpentry experience.
• Welding or structural steel erection experience.
• Interest in career advancement and leadership development.

Schedule & Environment

• Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-4:00 PM
• Commercial construction sites within 60 miles of Ames and Fort Dodge
• Primarily outdoor work in varying weather conditions
• Standard construction attire and PPE required

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ames, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
