in our Construction office position at the Iowa Department of Transportation! In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, sampling, testing, and digitally documenting construction projects year-round to help ensure our mission Making Lives Better Through Transportation and five Core Values:

- Ensuring that work is completed according to the plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Acting as the liaison with Iowa DOT staff, government officials, contractors, and the public
- Maintaining detailed records of all project activities such as vouchers, as-builts, and progress reports by performing mathematical calculations to ensure compliance
- Assisting Maintenance Bureau by operating snow and ice removal equipment during winter operations
To be successful in this position, you will need high proficiency with typing and digital data entry due to a high volume of computer and software use.
Location and ScheduleLocation: Cherokee Resident Construction Engineer Office
Shift: 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Hours may vary and the position is subject to be on call 24 hours a day during emergency and/or weather conditions. Some overnight travel may be required.

Special Requirements- A CDL permit upon hire.
- Class A and endorsements/restrictions on your CDL within 5 months following your hire date. Entry Level Driver Training is available upon hire through the Iowa DOT. The multi-faceted training will help meet all state and federal regulations.
- A successful U.S. DOT Clearinghouse query.

- A pre-employment drug screen and will require ongoing participation in random drug and alcohol testing programs.
- May be required to obtain pesticide/herbicide certifications or other certifications as needed.
