The Business Banking Officer develops and manages relationships with small to mid‑sized business clients. Identifies financial needs and recommends appropriate banking products and services. Serves as a key point of contact for businesses seeking loans, deposit solutions, and cash management services and collaborates closely with partners across various business lines.
- Seeks new business opportunities within the bank’s defined market areas to attract and retain quality clients for the bank.
- Develops and maintains a network of professional relationships and referral sources including real estate brokers, accountants, attorneys and other centers of influence to generate new business.
- Recommends and sells a range of banking products, including loans, deposits, and treasury management solutions.
- Manages the end‑to‑end credit process, including loan structuring, approval, documentation, and closing in collaboration with underwriting and credit teams.
- Coordinates with internal partners to deliver full‑service banking solutions to clients.
- Actively stays current on all Bank products, services, procedures, policies, and applicable regulatory and compliance requirements by regularly attending team meetings, completing mandatory training on schedule, and applying knowledge to ensure accuracy and compliance in daily operations.
- Ensures adherence to federal and state laws, regulations, and bank policies by preventing violations, minimizing risks, and safeguarding the Bank’s interests.
- Verifies transactions and account balances, ensuring compliance with bank policies and state and federal regulations and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), as applicable to the role.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
- Formal sales and/or credit training preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong working knowledge of appropriate credit structure and key factors of Bank policy guidelines related to assessing credit quality.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Highly organized and proactive planner with strong time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to assess a loan applicant risk profile and manage credit structure and the risk inherent to lending.
