Job Summary
Turning Point, Inc. is looking to add a compassionate and dedicated Assistant Program Manager to our team. The Assistant Program Manager fulfills programmatic responsibilities by taking a leadership role in assisting the Program Manager in providing support and supervision to developmentally disabled and/or individuals with traumatic brain injury residing in group residences. The Assistant Program Manager maintains the safety and Human Rights of the individuals being supported, as well as implementing Individual Service Plans (ISP) goals and strategies of Turning Point, Inc.

Responsibilities- Assists the Program Manager in maintaining a safe environment and ensures the Human Rights and Safety of individuals are being met in a residential setting licensed by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) or Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC).
- Ensures all program staff follow all agency and program philosophy, ISP goals, objectives, and Case Management responsibilities, including completing all case management documentation in a timely fashion.
- Assists and supervises individuals with all activities of daily living including hygiene, household chores, cooking, shopping, banking, and community activities.
- Assists Program Manager in the planning of menus to ensure physician‑ordered diets are followed, helps ensure individuals make good dietary nutritional choices, completes the menu weekly and files in proper place, and ensures food and coast shopping is completed regularly.
- Assists individuals with transportation to medical, dental, psychiatric, and other appointments as assigned by the Program Manager.
- Follows all behavior plans and maintains required data collection; role‑models required behavior plans and interventions, helping staff to understand and execute all behavior plans and ISP goals/strategies for each individual.
- Completes all documentation in a timely manner, including communication logs, shift notes, incident reports, restraint forms, MAP documentation, etc.
- Takes lead in helping program staff follow the program’s operational policies and procedures, as directed by the Program Manager and/or Coordinator.
- Assists Program Manager with interviewing new candidates or internal employees; may sit in on performance and development goals meetings.
- Assists in the training and orientation of new program staff and clarifies program policies and procedures for new and existing staff, as directed by the Program Manager.
- Engages in a positive manner with individuals, their families and/or guardians, providers, and other staff and management.
- Attends monthly team meetings and any trainings as directed.
- Maintains current CPR and First Aid certification, as well as MAP and PABC as applicable.
- Maintains all MAP responsibilities in the program, including completing the MAP Supervisory documentation weekly, ensuring sufficient medication in the program, and working directly with the Program Nurse to ensure all medical needs are met regularly.
- Ensures that the financials in the program are being followed on a regular basis, responsible for counting money every shift, and ensuring staff do the same; responsible for checks and balances and working with the Program Manager to ensure all individuals have their financial needs met.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or Coordinator.
- High school diploma or G.E.D required;
Associate’s Degree or pursuing degree preferred. - Minimum of five years’ direct support residential experience and/or closely related experience working with developmentally disabled individuals and/or individuals with traumatic brain injury.
- A working knowledge of behavior plans for developmentally disabled individuals and/or individuals with traumatic brain injury, as required by the position.
- Prior staff training and/or leadership experience desirable.
- Must possess current First Aid, CPR, MAP, Human Rights Advocate, and PABC certifications (where required) and any other certifications as required.
- Pass a CORI, driving record, and fingerprinting checks prior to beginning of work and continued employment, as required by the position responsibilities and company policies.
- Ability to meet physical requirements such as standing, walking, lifting, turning, and squatting.
- Ability to drive a 4-6 passenger van in order to transport residents.
