Position Overview
Hexcel, a global leader in advanced composites technology, is seeking a CNC Programmer at our Amesbury, MA location.
Responsibilities- Analyzing engineering drawings, specifications, and verbal instruction to plan a manufacturing strategy.
- Creating efficient toolpath machining strategies using Master
CAM for milling programs. - Developing fixtures and work holding jigs for machining unique components.
- Creating detailed setup sheets and work instructions.
- Modifying current production programs and fixtures to improve efficiency.
- Setting up and running various CNC machinery (3‑axis, 5‑axis, EDM, waterjet) and machining prototype or low‑quantity run parts when required.
- Occasionally designing 2D wireframe / 3D solid models from a blueprint or sketch to create CNC programs.
- Selecting correct programs, loading and setting up tools and parts.
- Calculating new product costs by providing material cost and processing time for fixturing, as well as setup and run time to produce parts.
- Performing other duties including, but not limited to: completing reports and records, running daily calibrations, basic machine maintenance, training operators, and troubleshooting production issues.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of programming experience utilizing Master
CAM X or newer software. - 2+ years of experience working in a machine shop—setting up and operating CNC and manual machines.
- Experience with troubleshooting CNC programs.
- Ability to read blueprints with an understanding of GD&T.
- Ability to decipher and edit NC code as required.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team on the floor.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Full salary range for this role: $68,655 - $116,713.
This position is restricted to U.S. citizens due to U.S. federal government contracts that require the employment of only persons who are U.S. citizens.
