Job Summary
Clinical Instructor to teach one or more clinical course(s) for the College of Nursing.
Essential Functions
This appointment carries a professional commitment to the university and a commitment to understand and adhere to applicable university and college of nursing policies. Article 13 of the current CBA outlines many faculty roles and responsibilities.
Initially, in this appointment, your workload will consist of:
Teaching clinical courses
Maintaining your Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) certification each semester.
Contacting the clinical coordinator or your program director within 24 hours with any student concerns or issues.
Notifying the clinical coordinator and your program director prior to your absence from clinical and identify your plan to make up the time.
Checking UMass email every 24 business hours during the semester you are teaching.
Responding to UMass student email within 24 business hours
Completing / Maintaining immunization and licensing records on Exxat. Providing skills/simulation lab coverage for your assigned students.
Evaluating student progression in ATI and use ATI Active learning strategies to create and evaluate student learning goals in the clinical experience.
Responsible for the completion of all clinical objectives.
Attending the Clinical Faculty Meetings at the beginning and end of the semester.
Meeting with the clinical coordinator two to three times during the semester.
Submitting clinical evaluation tool (CET) to the clinical coordinator by the end of the semester.
Submitting End of Course Evaluation at within 2 weeks after your course has ended for the semester.
Teaching schedules may vary from one semester to another, depending on the program needs, the availability of resources (including classroom and clinical placements, and other faculty), as well as the enrollment demand. The Associate Dean will assign workloads and schedules each semester.
Minimum Qualifications
You must have a valid Massachusetts RN license in good standing
Bachelor's degree in nursing
Minimum of two years full-time experience in nursing, or its equivalent, within the last five years and evidence of clinical competence in the area of clinical instruction
Evidence to demonstrate the maintenance of expertise appropriate to teaching responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in nursing or a terminal degree

Work is performed in a laboratory or healthcare setting and may involve exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases. Requires standing for extended periods of time and/or use of protective gear.

Salary Information
$2,922.92 - $3,284.26 per credit, depending on nursing education/degree
