Job Summary

The Program Coordinator provides direction and leadership, including educational and social programming for the four campus-based cultural centers, community-building opportunities for students of all backgrounds, wellbeing initiatives for distinct student populations, basic program and learning assessments, supervision of student staff and efficient management of cultural center budgets and resources. The cultural centers are:
Josephine White Eagle Cultural Center (JWECC), Latinx American Cultural Center (LACC), Malcolm X Cultural Center (MXCC), and Yuri Kochiyama Cultural Center (YKCC.)

Essential Functions
  • Reporting to the Associate Director, the Program Coordinator provides direction and leadership for four campus-based cultural centers.
  • Develops and implements innovative programs and training focused on cross-cultural engagement, wellbeing and community building and belonging for students from diverse backgrounds. Travels within worksites to administer programming and transport materials and supplies.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships and collaborations with student organizations, academic departments, Student Affairs, and other campus units.
  • Recruits and supervises a team of student staff.
  • Supports daily cultural center operations, responsibly manages budgets and provides administrative oversight for marketing, student payroll, purchasing, event schedules, sponsorship requests, space reservations, and cultural center projects.
  • Collects and assesses data and regularly reports on the impact of programs and services.
  • Maintains knowledge of relevant trends in student development apply new knowledge to innovate, as appropriate.
  • Provides related data and reports, as needed.
Other Functions
  • Performs related duties as assigned or required. Understands responsibilities with respect to Title IX, Clery and other compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrates capacity, skill, and willingness to engage students and contribute to student success.
  • Understands responsibilities with respect to conflicts of interest and behaves in ways consistent both with law and with University policy.
  • Contributes toward creating a positive and respectful workplace. Uses access to sensitive and/or not yet public University-related information only in the performance of the responsibilities of position and exercises care to prevent unnecessary disclosure to others.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two years' combined work experience to include event management, program/training-development/implementation grounded in dialogue, social justice, cultural enrichment, diversity, equity, inclusion, or student success services.
  • Strong administrative and technical skills to include experience with Microsoft Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Field of study in ethnic/cultural studies, education, anthropology, higher education administration, social justice, multicultural education, student development or another related field.
  • Experience supervising and managing budgets.
  • Bilingual candidates.

  • Ability to travel to work-related sites reliably, as needed.
  • Flexible schedule based on programming needs including nights and weekends.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in a standard office or indoor university environment and involves minimal physical exertion.

Work Schedule and Work Arrangement
  • 37.5 hours per week.
  • Monday-Thursday 10:30am-7pm;
    Friday 8:30am-5pm
Salary Information

Pay Grade: PSSAP Grade 26.
