Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Head of Academic Engagement, the Business Librarian serves as the primary liaison to the Isenberg School of Management and related departments, cultivating relationships with faculty and program staff to inform instructional support, collection development, research services, and foster campus‑community and industry partnerships. This role promotes and develops in‑person and online library services, provides course‑integrated instruction and participates in information literacy programming, and conducts individual and group research consultations both in‑person and virtually.
The incumbent undertakes proactive academic outreach to relevant departments, centers, and institutes; contributes to collection development and strategy; and collaborates with colleagues across subject areas to ensure alignment of resources with evolving curricular and research priorities.
- Serve as the library liaison to the Isenberg School of Management (ISOM), and related programs and centers, with broad engagement with faculty, staff, and students.
- Partner with the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Librarian to provide comprehensive research and instruction support on various business topics.
- Provide specialized business reference and research services, including consultations via email, chat, phone, and in‑person; contribute to campus and external partnerships that apply library expertise for public and community benefit.
- Design, develop, deliver, and assess outcome‑based information literacy instruction and workshops in a variety of formats (in‑person and online); create accompanying instructional materials and online guides that emphasize inclusive pedagogy and measurable learning outcomes.
- Analyze trends in assigned units' teaching and learning and research programs; stay current with the literature and scholarship in business disciplines to inform services and collections and to support growth in research and creative enterprise.
- Contribute to collection development and strategy by evaluating, recommending, acquiring, and obtaining books, journals, databases, and other resources in collaboration with collections and acquisitions staff; apply data‑driven selection practices and considerations of licensing, accessibility, and cost‑effectiveness to maximize return on investment; contribute to support for issues with access or licensing of resources, and answer complex, highly specialized inquiries.
- Collaborate with colleagues across library units and academic departments to plan, deliver, assess, and improve teaching, outreach, and research support initiatives; develop interdisciplinary partnerships that advance institutional innovation goals.
- Initiate or participate in assessment activities; use feedback, usage data, and institutional metrics (including university dashboards) to refine services, demonstrate impact, and inform continuous improvement aligned with institutional priorities.
- Contribute to the library profession, the discipline of library and information studies, and/or business studies through publications, presentations, or other forms of research or scholarly activities.
- Participate in library‑and campus‑level outreach, events, and committees; represent the library in professional contexts, cultivate external collaborations, and pursue ongoing professional development that supports library and university objectives.
Perform other duties and contribute to special projects as assigned; occasional evening or weekend instruction/service may be required.
Minimum Qualifications- ALA‑accredited master’s degree in library/information science.
- Two years of relevant experience in a library, corporate setting, or related professional environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and a diverse clientele in a service‑oriented, research‑focused environment.
