Title: Assistant Director of Engagement, Charles River Campus

Schedule: Full Time, Monday–Friday 8:30 am – 5 pm, Onsite
Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Engagement reports directly to the Assistant Chancellor for Greater Boston Strategic Initiatives/Managing Director of the Charles River Campus and is responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of engagement strategies intended to increase awareness, participation, and utilization of the Charles River Campus among Amherst campus constituents, including students, faculty and staff. The position advances the campus strategy to high‑impact, career‑connected professional development and experiential learning opportunities and enhances visibility and strategic integration of the Charles River Campus within the broader UMass Amherst ecosystem.
Functions
- Plan, execute, and lead information sessions, classroom visits, and networking activities at career fairs and other university events to promote Charles River Campus pathways and engagement opportunities.
- Manage the Charles River Campus Student Ambassador Program, including recruitment, selection, training, deployment, assessment, and ongoing professional development.
- Provide supervision, coaching, prioritization, and performance management for the campus Communications and Marketing Coordinator.
- Coordinate student cohort recruitment, marketing, communications, event outreach, inquiry management, and responsive engagement strategies in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with University Relations on brand communications, marketing campaigns, and other projects to advance the campus brand and promote it to target audiences, ensuring alignment with university standards.
- Build and sustain relationships with academic departments, colleges, administrative units, and student‑facing offices to expand awareness and participation in campus opportunities.
- Identify, cultivate, and coordinate opportunities for faculty, staff, alumni, and external partners to engage through speaker series, networking panels, guest speaking, experiential learning initiatives, and other programs.
- Assist in the development and coordination of programs, events, and initiatives that strengthen engagement among students, faculty, and stakeholders.
- Develop, track, and report engagement metrics related to student participation, faculty engagement, recruitment efforts, and campus utilization to support strategic planning and continuous improvement.
- Represent the campus on cross‑functional committees, working groups, and project teams; build collaborative partnerships and advance initiatives across the decentralized, matrixed university environment.
- Lead or manage strategic and special projects identified by the Assistant Chancellor, Managing Director, or Chancellor’s Office.
- Build effective partnerships throughout the university, sharing information and providing assistance as needed.
- Ensure optimum service to all internal and external partners, maintaining a welcoming environment for people of all backgrounds, nationalities, and roles.
- Uphold responsibilities concerning conflicts of interest and adhere to legal and university policies.
- Contribute to creating a positive, respectful workplace defined by competence, integrity, and collaboration.
- Support the implementation of departmental and institutional goals for non‑discrimination, inclusivity, and diversity.
- Handle sensitive or confidential university information responsibly, preventing unnecessary disclosure.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education administration, student engagement, marketing and communications, admissions or enrollment management, experiential learning, career and professional development, employer engagement, and/or program management.
- Knowledge of best practices in marketing and communications for college and prospective college students, including digital and social media.
