Late Night Coordinator
Amherst College invites applications for the Late Night Coordinator position. The Late Night Coordinator is a full-time, year-round position. The expected range for this position is $ per hour.
The Late Night Coordinator provides evening and late-night oversight of the Student Center, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and vibrant environment for students and campus guests. This position works with a team of student employees, manages building operations during non-traditional hours, supports late-night programming, and fosters community engagement in alignment with the mission of the Office of Student Life.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
Building Operations & Oversight:
Serve as the primary professional staff member on duty in the Student Center during evening and weekend hours.
Ensure that the facility remains safe, secure, and operational throughout the night, addressing any incidents or emergencies in coordination with campus partners
Oversee building access, room setups, and closing procedures.
Monitor and report maintenance or custodial needs.
Enforce campus policies and procedures with professionalism and consistency.
Coordinate student workers to assist in support needs in the Student Center, Powerhouse, and Ford Hall event venues, and the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership
Provides support to student staff in regards to some EMS scheduling needs and operational needs of the Student Center
Event and Program Development:
Advises and supports the programming within Student Engagement and Leadership, primarily focused on evening and late-night programming
Coordinates marketing, advertising material, and social media for Student Engagement and Leadership programs
Builds partnerships and collaborations across departments to provide campus-wide programs and events designed to build community and foster student engagement on campus sponsored by Student Engagement and Leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1-3 years of experience in student affairs/activities
- In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, 5-6 years of related experience
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Google programs, and the ability to learn new software programs
- Understanding of academic priorities, the educational mission of institutions, and ways in which student activities, programs, and functions can promote student engagement, advance student learning, and contribute to achieving desired learning goals
- Time-management, organizational, verbal, and written communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to be resourceful and solve problems creatively
- Experience in managing event and program budgets
- Evidence-based commitment to supporting a diverse student community. Commitment to fostering inclusive communities through leadership and programming.
- Successful completion of required reference and background checks, including CORI check
