Job DescriptionThe Amherst Public Schools are currently seeking applicants for a Para educator for the Caminantes program at Amethyst Brook Elementary School. This is a full-time and school-year position.
The Caminantes paraprofessional assists students, ESL and general education teachers, school staff, and families of the Caminanates program in the following manner:
- Manages and assists individuals and small groups, separately at times, under the direction of supervisors(s) for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts and assisting students in reaching their academic goals and grade level standards.
- Provides classroom support through interpreting and translating instruction and information introduced by the teacher into students’ native language.
- Maintains documentation of learning activities and/or tutoring sessions of students as determined by the supervisor.
- Monitors individuals and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of ensuring a safe and positive learning environment, including reinforcing and supporting student academic and/or behavioral plans.
- Collaborates and works harmoniously with all other members of school staff toward the successful development of the Caminantes program.
- Ability to work with a diverse population of students within a multicultural school community
- Strong positive, interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors
- Highly effective oral and written communication skills in Spanish.

Salary: $21.45 to $30.45 Per Hour
