Preschool Paraeducator

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Preschool Para educator at Crocker Farm Elementary. This full-time position involves supporting the educational and developmental needs of young children in a preschool setting. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers to create a positive and engaging learning environment, fostering social, emotional, and cognitive growth among students.

This is a Unit C position within the APEA Bargaining union.

• Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and activities that promote learning and development.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, addressing their individual needs and learning styles.
• Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and participation, providing feedback to the lead teacher.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and positive interactions with peers.
• Assist with classroom management, ensuring a respectful and inclusive atmosphere for all students.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff members to support student success and address any concerns.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to early childhood education.
• Assist with daily routines, including snack time, outdoor play, and transitions between activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the lead teacher or school administration.

• High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in early childhood education or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young children.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Basic knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching strategies.
• Proficiency in using technology and educational software relevant to early childhood education.
• First Aid and CPR certification is a plus; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
• Background check and clearance required prior to employment.
