Nurse Manager

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Manager to oversee the health services in the Amherst, Pelham and Amherst-Pelham Regional School Districts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the school nursing program, ensuring the health and well-being of students, and promoting a safe and healthy school environment. This full-time position requires a strong leader with excellent communication skills and a passion for student health.

This is a position in the Amherst Pelham Administrators Association (APAA).

• Manage and supervise the school health offices, including daily operations and staff performance.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate health policies and procedures in accordance with state regulations and school district guidelines.
• Provide direct nursing care to students, including assessment, treatment, and management of acute and chronic health issues.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and healthcare providers to develop and implement Individual Health Plans (IHPs) for students with special health needs.
• Conduct health screenings and immunization programs, maintaining accurate health records and documentation.
• Provide health education to students, staff, and families on various health topics, including nutrition, mental health, and disease prevention.
• Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community health resources.
• Monitor and manage school health trends and report significant health issues to school administration and appropriate authorities.
• Train and supervise nursing staff and volunteers, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Participate in school committees and contribute to the development of a comprehensive health education program.

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution;
  Master’s degree preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts.
• MA DESE School Nurse License
• Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a school or pediatric setting preferred.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Knowledge of state and federal health regulations, as well as school health policies.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• CPR and First Aid certification required; additional certifications in school nursing or public health preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings for school events or meetings.
• Commitment to promoting a healthy and safe school environment for all students.
