Job SummaryConduct toxicology research to meet the aims of NIH-funded research. Will assist in experimental design, and will carry out experiments, data collection, data analysis, and prepare written and oral dissemination of result.
Essential Functions- Assist in the development of protocols and experimental designs.
- Conduct experiments on toxicity of PFAS chemicals.
- Contribute to maintenance and breeding of fish populations and/or cell culture lines to be used in these experiments.
- Oversee planning and management of data collection.
- Perform statistical analysis of data.
- Disseminate evaluation results through peer-reviewed publications and oral presentations.
- Supervise undergraduate/graduate research assistants.
- Work with microscopy.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- Ph.D. in toxicology, biology, or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience with cell culture and/or zebrafish toxicology research.
- Experience in the use of statistical analysis software
- Ability to work effectively with faculty, administrators, and students.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be willing to wear proper personal protective equipment when needed (gloves, lab coat, safety glasses).
- Experience with handling and properly disposing of biohazards and hazardous waste.
Some work will be conducted in a hot (80-85
F) and humid environment.
This position is subject to final budgetary and administrative approval.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in a laboratory or healthcare setting and may involve exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases. Requires standing for extended periods of time and/or use of protective gear.
Work Schedule and Work ArrangementM-F, flexible
Salary InformationUMass Amherst expects to pay within an approximate range between $62,838 and $66,287 for this position.
This position will remain open for the time period required by any applicable collective bargaining agreement and will continue until a suitable candidate pool is identified. Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early.
