School Adjustment Counselor – High School

Location: Amherst, Massachusetts

Starting Date: Aug 24, 2026

The Amherst-Pelham Regional School District is seeking a highly skilled counselor to provide in‑school counseling services for high‑school students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs. The School Adjustment Counselor will work with students with IEPs and other social/emotional challenges, partnering with school personnel to meet their needs during this full‑term, interim position.

• Provide group and individual counseling services
• Case‑management services for the assigned caseload
• Participate in IEP meetings; develop and progress‑monitor IEP goals
• Collaborate and consult with school personnel on topics related to social/emotional learning and mental health issues
• Provide crisis intervention when needed
• Conduct self‑harm and threat assessments as required
• Perform behavioral assessments and develop behavior support plans
• Communicate and collaborate with families as part of service‑delivery planning
• Collaborate with teachers and related service personnel regarding strategies, interventions, and progress monitoring
• Maintain contact with outside providers and agencies to facilitate a comprehensive approach to student service delivery
• Work with culturally diverse populations
• Attend district‑wide mental health team meetings and trainings
• Perform other related duties as required
• Assume additional responsibilities as directed by the Principal

• Master’s Degree or higher in Social Work, Psychology, or another mental health provider field
• Background working with children and adolescents with mental health needs
• MA ESE School Adjustment Counselor certification or eligibility for certification required
• Bilingual and/or bicultural candidates encouraged to apply
