Team Member, Retail

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

As a Team Member, you must be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented. The following duties are essential:

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Work scheduled shifts and be willing to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as required.
• Deliver Legendary Customer Service through GURA:
  • Greet the customer.
  • Uncover the customer’s needs and wants.
  • Recommend product solutions.
  • Ask to add value and appreciate the customer.
• Perform the following duties for 95% of your day (mix may vary):
  • Operate cash register/computer following cash handling procedures.
  • Recovery of merchandise.
  • Participate in mandatory freight process.
  • Complete Plan‑o‑gram procedures (merchandising, sets, and resets).
  • Assemble merchandise.
  • Perform janitorial duties.
  • Execute price changes/markdowns.
  • Operate forklift (unless under 18).
  • Operate cardboard baler (unless under 18).
  • Assist customers with loading purchases.
  • Ensure a Legendary shopping experience that differentiates from the competition.
  • Ensure the safety and well‑being of birds. Sanitize and maintain poultry holding tanks and care for birds as required.
  • Complete all documentation related to the job duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience:

No experience required. Retail experience and/or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred.

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required. Team Members must be able to read, write, and count accurately.

• Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge.
• Ability to read, write, and count accurately.
• Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically with minimal conflict.

• Indoor and outdoor work environment with moderate noise.
• Hard surface floors and outdoor lots (concrete, asphalt, etc.). Lighting and temperature are adequate.
• Shift lengths typically 4–8 hours, may exceed 8 hours.
• Promote a safe and productive work environment and adhere to company safety training and guidelines.

• Move and transfer merchandise up to 50 pounds.
• Push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with proper equipment.
• Occasionally lift or reach overhead.
• Frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
• Move throughout the store for an entire shift.
• Safely access all store areas (selling floor, side lot, stock area, register area).
• Operate and use all equipment (dolly, hand truck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register). Forklift and baler not required if under 18.
• Continuously operate store equipment such as computer and cash register.
• Read, write, and count accurately for documentation.
• Use strong written and verbal communication skills with team members.
• Process information/merchandise through the point‑of‑sale system.
• Handle contact with birds/poultry.
• Complete all required training.
• Complete propane dispensing training and certification (not required if under 18).
