Job Overview
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician to support plasma center operations. The role involves determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and providing center level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Manage donor adverse events and review laboratory test results, notifying donors of unsuitable test results.
- Evaluate donor reactions, follow SOPs for medical emergencies, and coordinate donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs regarding unacceptable findings and medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents, assess need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER, and refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats in the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) licensed or certified in the state of assignment.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- State licensure for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Compensation & Benefits SummaryU.S. hourly wage range: $33.44 – $45.98. Salary will consider qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. Eligible U.S. employees may receive short‑term incentives, medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, short‑term and long‑term disability coverage, basic life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well‑being benefits. Employees may accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation and up to 80 hours of sick time annually.
