Manager Customs and Global Trade
In today’s increasingly complex global tax and customs environment, international reach, strong local presence, and the right expertise are critical to the successful execution of clients’ tax and customs matters. The Manager will play a key role in supporting and expanding the Customs and Global Trade practice within Alvarez & Marsal Tax. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to clients on complex trade and customs matters and partner closely with senior leadership to help grow and scale the firm’s customs and global trade advisory capabilities.
The ideal candidate will be engaged, entrepreneurial, action‑oriented, and hands‑on. The ability to quickly build, develop, and strengthen internal and client relationships will be essential to success within A&M’s collaborative environment.

You will have the chance to partner with senior leadership on key decisions relating to strategy and the future development of the practice in the market. Responsibilities- Manage client engagements across customs and global trade, including customs compliance, customs audits, supply chain planning, risk management and CBAM.
- Advise clients on EU customs matters such as classification, valuation, country of origin, and related optimization strategies.
- Serve as a client contact on assigned engagements, delivering clear, actionable, and executive‑ready advice.
- Support business development efforts through proposal development, solution design, and participation in client discussions alongside senior leadership.
- Contribute to the evolution of the Global Trade platform by helping develop new offerings, tools, and internally scalable best practices.
- Mentor and coach junior team members, fostering technical growth and strong consulting habits.
- At least 5 years’ experience in customs and global trade.
- Knowledge of customs software solutions, customs declaration systems, and data analytics and reporting.
- Working knowledge of EU customs and global trade regulations, including compliance frameworks and risk assessment.
- Experience with customs audits, enforcement actions, and the design/execution of compliance programs.
- Strong writing, analytical, research, and organizational skills, with the ability to translate complex trade issues into practical business guidance.
- Strong communication, presentation, project management, and business development skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, time‑sensitive environment.
