To support Operations and Legal teams by ensuring Smith’s compliance with regional and global trade compliance regulations.
EssentialJob Duties
- Understand regional and global rules and regulatory requirements and advise management/adapt processes where required
- Ensure Smith’s adherence to regulatory requirements relating to activities such as import/export controls, etc.
- Provide general trade compliance guidance and support to Smith’s internal stakeholders
- Assist in execution of internal and external audits relating to trade compliance and implementation of corrective actions
- Work with Export Licensing and Quality Control teams to research and maintain customs related master data (e.g., part type classification information)
- Work with third party service providers (e.g., freight forwarders) to ensure proper execution of and documentation for international shipments
- Investigate and report unusual business activity that may result in a violation and/or inquiry to senior management
- 3+ years of trade compliance experience preferred
- 3+ years of experience with HTS database management preferred
- Prior experience working in the semiconductor/electronics distribution industry a plus
- Proficient oral and written communication skills in English are required
- Must be detail oriented and organized
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (i.e., logistics or supply chain) or equivalent job experience preferred
CertificationsECTI certification preferred
Software RequirementsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office suite Experience with DNB, Alliance or other trade compliance tools
Additional Skills- Capable of interpreting regulations and translating them into business practices
- Strong analytical, problem solving, negotiation, organizational and teaching skills
- Ability to drive compliance behaviors in good balance with business objectives
