Position: Graduate Equity Analyst (2027 Start)

Optiver’s Equity Options Trading team is looking for Graduate Equity Analysts to help shape our fundamental research-driven trading.

As an Equity Analyst at Optiver you will use current events and fundamental research to influence the team’s trading decisions. You will sit directly on the trading floor and work in close collaboration with Traders, Quantitative Researchers and Developers to creatively solve problems and identify new trading opportunities. You will also put on research-backed trades based on your own analysis, giving you direct ownership of your best ideas and rapid feedback from the market.

You will begin with structured training through the Optiver Academy for Equity Analysts. As your market knowledge and judgement develop, you will take increasing ownership of company coverage, research ideas and research-backed trading positions.

What you’ll do

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Identify fundamentally driven trading opportunities and work with traders to capture them, focusing on maximising your impact on overall desk PnL.
  • Think probabilistically and perform scenario analysis for relevant upcoming events and catalysts. Analyse time sensitive headlines for companies within your coverage sectors and assess their potential impact on volatility and/or stock prices.
  • Assist in the growth of our fundamental research team by developing processes, identifying new areas of market inefficiencies and building relevant industry networks.
  • Use AI-enabled tools, supported by training, to organise and analyse news, events and company information, applying your own judgement to validate their output and improve the research tooling.

Who you are
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a STEM, Finance, Economics or business related subject
  • Available to start full time work in August 2027 (either graduating by 2027, or holding a maximum of 3 years work experience)
  • Has a genuine interest in financial markets and demonstrates a willingness to learn new techniques/skills and teach others
  • Able to work under the guidance of mentors and develop fundamental research-driven ideas independently
  • Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Entrepreneurial by nature - you've run something of your own, taken risks that didn't always pay off, or committed to getting genuinely good at something difficult
  • A determined and resilient individual, equipped with strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
  • Evidenced time management, organizational and multitasking skills with experience in computer programming being preferred, but not required
