Overview
Warner Chappell Music (WCM) is seeking an ambitious and value-driven General Manager (GM) to lead its Benelux operations in Amsterdam. Reporting directly to the President of Warner Music Central Europe & Warner Chappell Music Benelux, the GM will drive the P&L and strategically grow WCM NL's market share, all while championing our cultural values:
Curiosity, Collaboration, and Commitment. This role requires a leader who is operationally savvy yet possesses a strong creative lens to drive the core business.
- Drive a culture of curiosity and innovation across creative and A&R functions, integrating both traditional A&R activities; sourcing, signing, and scalable songwriter development, with a creative POV that explores new genres and non-traditional deals.
- Proactively analyze market trends, digital platforms, and consumption shifts using data and local insights to translate new insights into actionable, culturally relevant creative and commercial strategies.
- Provide strategic guidance to the A&R team to ensure bold signing decisions are matched with a strategy to amplify songwriters to drive success and growth of the overall business.
- Full ownership of the WCM NL P&L, demonstrating commitment to achieving ambitious commercial growth targets to budget and provide accurate forecasting.
- Oversee all administrative functions, ensuring high standards of compliance and efficiency.
- Ensure the Administration team's effectiveness, leveraging their expertise and deep local relationships with the local collection society.
- Act as the key facilitator, fostering seamless collaboration between A&R, Sync, Production Music, and Administration teams to ensure all creative output is efficiently monetized and administered.
- Serve as the principal external face of WCM NL, building and nurturing powerful collaborative relationships with songwriters, managers, key partners, and the Global Leadership team.
- Work with Finance and local WMG teams for best practices and share knowledge.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire the team, embodying WCM's values and fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture.
Minimum 5+ years of senior-level experience in Publishing, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity managing and mentoring a team. Exceptional strategic and strong commercial mindset, understanding the music industry’s revenue streams and business models, and a proven ability to drive revenue and manage large budgets effectively. Outstanding leadership and relationship-management skills, coupled with the ability to lead, negotiate, and close contracts with key external partners.
