Job Description & How to Apply Below
At XFuel, we’re not just imagining a net‑zero future — we’re building it. With patented waste‑to‑fuel technology, multiple pilot plants deployed, strong investor and EU backing, and a mission that matters, we’re scaling rapidly to decarbonise global transport.

Join a high‑impact, innovation‑driven team where your work directly contributes to one of the world’s most urgent challenges. We offer a collaborative culture, tailored relocation package, and a highly competitive market salary.

If you’re driven, sharp, and hungry to tackle one of the world’s toughest problems, jump in!

Mission
Your mission is to support the growth of XFuel’s commercial pipeline by conducting market research, identifying new business opportunities, and providing essential deal support to the business development team. You’ll help source potential partnerships, conduct stakeholder research, and support deal structuring, enabling the team to close high‑impact partnerships and customer contracts.

This is a hands‑on, research‑focused role that’s fundamental to scaling our commercial success. You’ll work across multiple geographies and customer segments, gaining exposure to the full BD lifecycle while building the skills needed to grow in business development.

Responsibilities

Research & Sourcing:  Identify and profile potential customers, partners, and suppliers across the maritime sector. Conduct market analysis to support BD strategy.

Opportunity Management:  Maintain and organise the BD pipeline; track opportunities from initial lead through deal closure (supporting senior team members in structuring and negotiation).

Initial Customer Outreach:  Conduct first‑contact research and outreach to prospective customers and partners; qualify leads and prepare briefs for senior team follow‑up.

Deal Support:  Prepare deal materials, data rooms, and documentation; assist with competitive analysis, contract templates, and project tracking.

Stakeholder Research:  Profile key decision‑makers, corporate structures, and strategic priorities for priority accounts and potential partners.

Cross‑functional

Collaboration:

Work with technical, commercial, and operations teams to gather information needed for customer pitches and partnership proposals.

Pipeline Visibility:  Maintain accurate records and reporting on BD activity; support forecasting and strategy discussions with leadership.

Qualifications

Early‑stage talent:  2+ years of experience in business development, sales support, market research, or related commercial roles (internships and entry‑level positions count).

Research skills:  Strong ability to conduct market research, stakeholder analysis, and competitive intelligence; comfortable using Linked In, company databases, and public sources.

Organisational mindset:  Detail‑oriented, with ability to manage multiple opportunities and maintain accurate pipeline records.

Communication skills:  Clear written and verbal communication; able to draft professional emails, briefs, and research summaries.

AI‑native working style:  Comfortable using AI tools (such as Claude) to accelerate research, draft communications, and support analysis. Able to apply AI to practical BD tasks, synthesising market intelligence, preparing partner briefings, and supporting reporting workflows rather than relying solely on manual methods.

Self‑starter:  Proactive in identifying opportunities and solving problems; thrives with minimal supervision.

Resilient and adaptable:  Comfortable in a fast‑paced startup environment with changing priorities; views obstacles as learning opportunities.

Team player:  Collaborates effectively across functions; eager to support colleagues and learn from experienced team members.

Sustainability‑focused:  Genuinely passionate about climate action and XFuel’s mission to decarbonise transportation.

EU eligibility:  Eligible to work and live in the EU.

Additional beneficial experience

Previous experience in early‑stage startups or scale‑ups.

Familiarity with maritime, energy, or industrial sectors.

Experience with CRM tools or BD pipeline management platforms.

Any background in climate tech or sustainability.
