The Network Support Specialist II is responsible for providing on-site network support for K-12 schools using Windows, Linux/Unix, Google Chrome Operating Systems. Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots Microsoft Intune, Active Directory, email, file/print/application servers, proxy server, firewalls, WEB servers, network electronics and database servers. Configures and maintains cloud-based environments such as Office 365, and Google Workspace. This position requires travel to school districts within the Northwest ESD 189 service area which includes Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom, Island and San Juan counties.

High school graduate or equivalent, a minimum of a two-year technical degree in Computer Technology or related field, and four years of experience which demonstrates knowledge of the networking environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted which provides the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Computer and network certifications such as CCNA, RHCE, MCSE, CNE, A+, Network+ etc.

are desirable though not required. WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance required.

This position is scheduled for 260 days per year, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Hours per day may vary to accommodate necessary travel to school districts.

Work is performed in an office environment, however, approximately 80% of this time is spent physically working at the various school district locations with approximately 20% of the time working at the NWESD district office. Routine travel is required to visit local school districts as well as for workshops and conferences. Sitting for extended periods of time working on a computer is common.

Lifts and carries a maximum of 40 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. This position may be telecommute-eligible per Policy 5225.
Hazards:
Those present in a normal office environment. Routine travel may pose potential hazards including traveling in inclement weather conditions.
