Quality Technician/ Inspector, Quality Control / Manager
Job Duties
- Conduct routine product quality control and specification compliance testing.
- Enter and maintain lab results in proper databases and written records, and communicate results to assigned area management and other personnel to permit formulation adjustments where needed.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Verify and maintain testing instruments and ancillary test equipment.
- Execute assigned area Health, Safety & Environmental programs and initiatives as directed.
- Conduct proficiency sample testing.
- Manage expendable laboratory supplies.
May include some or all of the following:
- Execute requirements of the Quality Manual and related quality systems.
- Provide environmental regulatory and compliance support.
- Perform basic routine instrument maintenance and calibration.
- Run SQC on test equipment, plot test results, report any out‑of‑control situations, and document action taken.
- Communicate with operations on off‑spec results or atypical samples.
- Collect and distribute samples to customers and others.
- Handle special assignments or tasks assigned by the supervisor as determined from time to time and at their sole discretion.
A minimum of six months of related material testing experience is required.
Preferred experience:
One year of laboratory or equivalent work experience, depending on location.
A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Preferred educational level: A bachelor’s or associate’s degree in chemistry or a related field.
Required SkillsBasic mechanical ability and understanding of operational principles of assigned area testing instruments. Basic ability to perform routine tests daily. Ability to communicate effectively with others, both written and verbal, and strong organizational skills. Ability to complete all required classroom and CBT training. Depending on location, exhibit average or better Z‑scores on proficiency testing programs, or ability to move drums of product and 150# gas cylinders.
Depending on location, elementary algebra and proficiency with spreadsheet and word‑processing software applications. Basic reading and writing skills, ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Preferred skills:
Familiarity with laboratory methods and equipment for running tests such as distillations, sulfur, pour, flash, color and API gravity (depending on location). Basic computer skills including knowledge of presentation and e‑mail software applications.
Office based with up to 10% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, outdoors, and driver‑based environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, and rotating equipment. Subject to all temperatures, weather, and varying road conditions. May require flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and a rotating schedule as required.

Physical RequirementsJob conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50lbs, and perceiving color difference. Job conditions may require wearing personal protective equipment (beards not permitted).

Salary and LocationSalary range:
The salary range includes the minimum, midpoint, and maximum base salary values. A candidate’s offer can vary depending on differentiating factors, including but not limited to education, training, or experience.
This position has a salary of $39.47 per hour.
