Job Title

Welder/Fitter

This position is responsible for fitting, welding, and assembling structural steel components in accordance with shop drawings, work orders, and company quality standards. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, accuracy, and productivity in a fast‑paced fabrication environment.

• Read and interpret structural steel blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders
• Lay out, fit, and assemble structural steel components
• Set up materials and equipment for welding operations (FCAW)
• Perform tack welding and final welding of structural components
• Operate fabrication machinery and equipment as assigned
• Perform measurements using both standard and metric systems
• Inspect work for accuracy and quality prior to completion
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment
• Move raw materials and finished products safely throughout the shop
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory personnel

• Verify equipment is in proper working condition prior to use
• Review work orders and confirm materials and specifications
• Accurately measure, mark, and position materials
• Perform basic math functions including fractions and metric conversions
• Always follow all company safety policies and procedures
• Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals

• AWS and/or WABO Welding Certification (required based on role)
• Demonstrated experience in structural steel fabrication
• Blueprint reading experience required
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform layout work accurately
• Basic math skills (standard and metric systems)
• Ability to follow directions and work under supervision
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening and background check

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Frequent use of hands, arms, and manual dexterity
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as needed
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds
• Ability to maintain balance and work safely in an active shop environment
• Visual ability including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment

• Structural steel fabrication shop with elevated noise levels
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment
• Indoor and outdoor working conditions depending on workload
• Safety‑sensitive environment requiring full attention and situational awareness

• Successful completion of pre‑employment drug screening
• Criminal background check
• Ability to meet physical demands of the position
• Weld Test Requirement:
  - Candidates must complete an on‑site AWS FCAW weld test in both vertical and overhead positions using .052 wire.

Pay is determined based on verified experience, skill level, certifications, and demonstrated ability.
