ResponsibilitiesSummary:
The Refrigeration Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Refrigeration department in Anacortes, Washington. The successful candidate will supervise and coordinate a team of technicians engaged in the repair, maintenance, and installation of ammonia refrigeration systems, as well as mechanical equipment including pumps, condensers, compressors, valves, and other utility system components. This role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operation of refrigeration and utility systems while supporting departmental goals and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Supervises and coordinates the daily activities of refrigeration technicians to ensure safe and efficient operation of ammonia refrigeration and facility systems.
- Assigns, prioritizes, and monitors preventive maintenance, repair, and installation work to meet operational requirements and minimize downtime.
- Ensures refrigeration equipment, compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, valves, and related utility systems are maintained in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Promotes and enforces compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM), EPA Risk Management Program (RMP), OSHA regulations, and all company safety policies and procedures.
- Conducts routine inspections of refrigeration and utility equipment to identify potential issues and ensure reliable system performance.
- Provides technical guidance, coaching, and training to refrigeration personnel to support employee development and continuous improvement.
- Participates in troubleshooting and resolving equipment failures, system inefficiencies, and emergency situations.
- Coordinates contractor activities and verifies work is completed safely, accurately, and according to specifications.
- Maintains accurate maintenance records, work orders, inspections, regulatory documentation, and department reports.
- Participate in incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action development to improve safety and reliability.

Travel/On-Call Requirements:
This role requires availability to respond to facility and refrigeration emergencies outside of normal business hours as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience maintaining and repairing industrial ammonia refrigeration systems in a manufacturing, food processing, or industrial environment.
- Minimum of one (1) year of leadership experience that can include leading projects/programs or coordinating the work of others.
