DescriptionThe Communications & Multimedia Specialist is the Nation’s centralized communications and multimedia resource within Administration and Samcor multimedia and marketing campaign. The position develops communications for Tribal citizens, employees, leadership, enterprises, community partners, and the public; leads major publications and General Council citizen packets; supports the State of the Nation and other presentations; produces multimedia; recommends communication strategies; supports internal change and public events;
collaborates with Culture, Language, Education, and program staff; coordinates with the Archivist, and serves as backup emergency communications liaison when assigned. This position provides daily Samcor marketing communications and social media campaigns.

- Develops and coordinates communications for Tribal citizens, employees, leadership, enterprises, community partners, and the public.
- Collaborates with Culture, Language, Education, and program staff to incorporate approved Samish culture, values, history, language, and community identity.
- Assists Administration and Human Resources with employee communications, organizational announcements, business-process changes, policy rollouts, workplace initiatives, and cultural-awareness efforts.
- Develops public notices, community announcements, leadership communications, press releases, talking points, interview materials, and event communications.
- Supports Council, election, governance, lobbying, and enterprise communications when assigned.
- At the direction of the Chief Operations Officer, develops and coordinates the State of the Nation presentation and General Council presentations.
- Assists Samish and Samcor presenters with presentation structure, graphics, formatting, branding, and effective communication.
- Builds relationships with media outlets, journalists, publishers, magazines, podcasters, and communications partners relevant to Samish priorities.
- Coordinates strategic communications with leadership, legal counsel, departments, enterprises, and approved partners.
- Maintains standards, branding, messaging consistency, templates, and editorial calendars.
- Leads planning, development, production, and distribution of the Annual Report, quarterly newsletter, and annual Samish calendar.
- Coordinates Administration’s citizen information packets and supporting materials for General Council meetings.
- Manages review, production, and publication of written materials.
- Produces approved reports, brochures, public notices, campaign materials, and other publications.
- Manages publication and media schedules, review processes, timelines, approvals, and records.
- Participates in the Samish history book and approved historical-documentation projects with Culture and Language staff, the Archivist, and subject-matter experts.
- Coordinates preservation of publications, source materials, and records with the Archivist.
- Produces audio, video, photography, graphic-design, presentation, and digital storytelling content.
- Creates infographics, flyers, brochures, posters, presentations, illustrations, and social-media content.
- Recommends communication methods, technologies, and outreach strategies.
- Assists with podcasts, video series, digital storytelling, educational programming, printed materials, text messaging, and other approved formats.
