Description

This is a new role for us! In the Clinic Nursing Supervisor role, you will play a key role in the department by assisting the Clinic Manager in the operation of the clinic. The Clinical Supervisor serves as a professional role model and may be involved with direct care as needed. You will collaborate with the Clinic Manager to ensure quality care is provided which includes the direct management of patient care and clinical personnel.

Salary: $38.55/hr - $56.23/hr

You will provide leadership support for clinical staff, contribute to performance management and staff engagement, and support operational alignment with Island Hospital’s mission, values, and strategic goals. This position may provide direct patient care as needed to support departmental operations and maintain clinical expertise and may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to Washington State law.

What

You Will Be Doing
  • Interviews candidates and, together with the Clinic Manager, makes hiring decisions.
  • Facilitates orientation and training of new employees. Rounds with new employees to assess the “fit” with the team; creates bonding opportunities for staff camaraderie.
  • Sets and maintains standards of conduct and performance for the clinical staff. Coordinates resources (MD/DOs, etc.) to provide clinical instruction as needed.
  • Schedules clinical staff. Coordinates all leaves for staff including PTO, sick time coverage, and FMLA in accordance with Human Resources and Policies.
  • Plans, assigns and directs clinical staff work.
  • Assesses clinical staff so each employee understands their job functions, the desired result of their work, and the resources available to achieve it.
  • Provides feedback on staff performance to the Clinic Manager and collaborates on modified training or disciplinary plans. Drafts and presents performance evaluations or disciplinary plans for staff.
  • Assists the Clinic Manager in providing an excellent patient experience by planning, implementing and enforcing initiatives, projects, programs and standards.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and enforces regulatory compliance with accrediting and licensing bodies (DNV and WA DOH), along with patient care policies, procedures and standards.
  • Provides oversight of Infection Control practices for all staff.
  • Coaches staff to ensure understanding of standards and responsibilities for upholding them.
  • Analyzes trends in quality of patient care and makes recommendations for improvement to the Clinic Manager or others as assigned.
  • Coordinates precepting assignments for students for externships and training programs.
  • Prepares for and leads monthly clinical staff meetings.
  • Oversees inventory of clinical supplies and requests for new supplies; oversees State supplied vaccines and adult vaccines.
  • Works closely with the Clinic Manager to manage the clinic budget, quality metrics, and Service Excellence goals.
  • Supports the Clinic Manager in reviewing and addressing patient complaints.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring To

The Role
  • Must maintain current BLS certification.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of nursing/medical assisting leadership experience in an outpatient setting.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge and clinical expertise in an outpatient setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide direction and development to employees by coaching and identifying training needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate and lead a team with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail and follow-through attitude.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to interact positively with Administration, Directors, Managers, Supervisors, peers, co-workers, subordinates, patients and visitors.
  • Must meet regular attendance standards and must stay at or below average sick leave utilization levels.
