Security Officer, Part-Time

About the Position

The Port of Anacortes is seeking to hire a Part‑Time Security Officer to help maintain a safe and secure environment at our marine terminal. This position is scheduled on an as‑needed basis when ships are in port or additional security coverage is required.

We offer a competitive wage of $23.25 - $25.25 per hour based on experience, paid sick leave, deferred compensation options, shift differential pay (10pm–6am), and holiday premium pay. This role offers ultimate flexibility—you choose the shifts you want to work. Shifts are offered to the Security team via email, making it a great opportunity for those with variable schedules.

As a Part‑Time Security Officer you will:

• Monitor access at the marine terminal gate or onboard vessels, checking Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) and ensuring compliance with federal maritime security regulations.
• Stay alert and observant while monitoring pedestrian and vehicle traffic, ensuring that only authorized individuals and activities are allowed.
• Remain calm, professional, and solution‑oriented when issues arise.
• Document incidents thoroughly and complete detailed reports following each shift.

• One year of security experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card (or ability to obtain one)
• Flexibility to work an on‑call, variable schedule including weekends and holidays
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments in all weather conditions
• Ability to safely navigate uneven, slippery, or wet surfaces

This is an on‑call, as‑needed position based on vessel schedules and operational needs. Available shifts include:

• 7:00 am – 3:00 pm
• 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm
• 11:00 pm – 7:00 am
