Marathon Refinery ($1,000 Signing Bonus!)
Under the direct supervision of the Security Captain and/or Sergeant, officers provide protection of work sites, personnel, and assets from events such as trespassing, theft, vandalism, harassment, assault, and other disruptive incidents at the Marathon Refinery in Anacortes, WA. Performing access control is a core function of this position.

LocationMarathon Refinery, 10200 W March Point Rd, Anacortes, WA 98221, USA. On-site. Full-Time. 4-Staff.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Valid driver’s license
- First Aid/CPR Certification or ability to obtain
- Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) or ability to obtain
- State of Washington Security Officer License or ability to obtain
- Ability to successfully complete training to become an armed Private Security Officer if desired to promote to an armed position.
- Ability to speak, write, and comprehend English
- Maturity of judgement and behavior
- Reliable access to a smartphone capable of running apps for scheduling, timekeeping, shift communications, and time‑off requests.
- Satisfactory completion of pre‑employment drug test, criminal background check, and post‑offer physical due to safety‑sensitive designation.
- Experience in private security, military service, law enforcement, corrections or a related field is desirable, but not required.
- Comply with all company/client safety and risk management policies and procedures.
- Guard property against damage, theft, and illegal or unauthorized entry.
- Perform searches of people, vehicles, vessels, buildings, and large outdoor areas.
- Operate a motor vehicle during both day and night in a variety of settings and varying weather conditions.
- Investigate suspicious persons, assess intentions, and take action as appropriate.
- Report results of investigations in written form clearly and accurately.
- Effectively and coherently communicate over radio channels.
- Communicate clearly and professionally when interacting with people.
- Use computers with common office‑related software.
- Maintain composure and control during emergency situations.
- Conduct visual surveillance for extended periods of time.
- Willingness to work at various positions or posts and rotate work shifts as required.
- Willingness to perform other duties as required.
This position starts at $21.00, with potential pay increases up to $25.30 after additional training and qualifications. Full‑time regular employees may enroll in health insurance (medical/dental/vision), life insurance, 401(k) Retirement Plan, short‑term disability, and have access to the employee assistance program. Full‑time employees accrue 80 hours of paid time off (PTO).
Working environmentOfficers will be working in and around an oil refinery.
Physical DemandsThe employee’s work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to pass a job specific post‑offer/pre‑employment physical.
