We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to support financial visibility across manufacturing operations in Anaheim, California. This role focuses on product profitability, inventory accuracy, standard costing, and operational reporting, while partnering closely with leadership to strengthen cost controls and planning. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, hands-on manufacturing accounting experience, and the ability to turn detailed data into practical business insights.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain product line profit and loss reporting, delivering clear analysis of sales performance and margin drivers.
- Evaluate inventory and production-related variances, identify trends, and explain the financial impact of manufacturing results and closed work orders.
- Prepare support for inventory-related reserves, including excess and obsolete stock, shrinkage, consignment, demonstration units, warranty exposure, and royalty-related items.
- Review the inventory cycle count process on a continuous basis to confirm compliance, accuracy, and effectiveness of internal controls.
- Administer standard costing by updating cost standards, coordinating the annual cost roll-up, and reviewing regular cost changes to ensure item-level accuracy.
- Produce monthly inventory reporting for operations leadership and contribute to procedures that track cost reduction opportunities and strengthen financial oversight.
- Record recurring month-end journal entries tied to inventory and cost of sales and ensure transactions are posted accurately.
- Investigate activity recorded in suspense accounts, resolve discrepancies, and reclassify inventory transactions to the appropriate accounts.
- Oversee fixed asset records and controls, including support for annual property-related filings and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate the company budgeting process, update periodic forecasts, and prepare project-based research and development expense reporting for tax credit and strategic planning purposes.
