Staff Accountant

Cooper Douglas is partnering with a privately held, family-owned retail and service company to hire a Staff Accountant. This is a hands-on role in a high-volume, transaction-heavy environment, with strong day-to-day involvement in reconciliations, AR, and AP. You will work closely with the Senior Accountant and Controller and have room to grow as the company scales.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Reconcile daily cash across multiple retail locations
• Process and maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Assist with general ledger maintenance across multiple corporate entities
• Prepare and organize supporting schedules and work papers
• Help with variance review against budget and actuals
• Support audit requests and documentation
• Flag process gaps and help improve accounting workflows

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2 to 4 years of accounting experience, ideally in retail, multi-location, or multi-entity settings
• Strong Excel skills, including vlookups, pivot tables, and sorting and analyzing data
• Comfortable with high transaction volume and heavy reconciliation work
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple entities and priorities
• Experience with Great Plains, Net Suite, or Quick Books is a plus
• Team player who fits a low-key culture but will speak up and bring ideas forward
