Sheriff's Records Specialist
LocationCandidates must be willing to work in the Boron area. Applications from those unwilling to work in Boron will be rejected. Candidates must also be willing to travel to this location.
Shift Information5% additional pay for evening shift work; 7.5% additional pay for night shift work. Applicants must be able and willing to work any shift of a 24‑hour period and any 5 of 7 days.
Examination RequirementsWritten Exam (Weight 100%) – assessment of basic office procedures and equipment operation;
English language, grammar and punctuation; public relations principles; proper telephone etiquette; computer and associated word processing including data entry and retrieval of records and other relevant subjects.
Applicants must attain a score of at least 70% on each phase of the examination process.
Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards- High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
- Two years of clerical experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skills to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Certification of Typing/Keyboarding speed of 45 net words per minute.
Provide copies of diplomas, transcripts, licenses and/or certificates. Attach a typing or keyboarding certificate issued within the last two years confirming a speed of 45 net words per minute. Certifications must conform to testing standards adopted by the Civil Service Commission.
Applicants must show a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Felony convictions are disqualifying; minor traffic offenses are not; misdemeanor convictions may be disqualifying. All candidates must pass a thorough background investigation.
Admittance requires a valid government‑issued photograph identification. Unavailable identification must be arranged with Human Resources prior to the test date. Appointees will be fingerprinted and required to pass a background investigation. After offer, post‑offer medical and drug screening tests may be required at County expense.
