Role Overview

The Category Manager will develop and implement procurement category strategies for critical equipment and spend categories such as switch gear, transformers, generators, UPS, ATS, PDU and STS. The focus is on achieving the best value, improving efficiencies, and driving savings that support project cost, quality and schedule objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Pursue defined Category Management strategies to secure competitive advantage and position Rosendin as a preferred client of key vendors.
  • Incorporate business requirements into sourcing plans, RFPs and category strategies.
  • Gather, interpret and analyze complex data to develop actionable steps that improve processes and optimize results.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of negotiation and contracting strategies for strategic suppliers.
  • Develop comprehensive implementation plans to execute category strategies with stakeholders and end users.
  • Negotiate and review NDAs, contracts and agreements with key vendors.
  • Lead change‑management efforts at senior management levels and contribute to company growth through innovative strategies.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 7–10 years of experience in procurement, contract management, project management or a related field.
  • Expertise in procurement, estimating, business management and leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience developing procurement category strategies and negotiation plans.
  • Proven track record in negotiating contracts with vendors and leading cross‑functional teams.
  • Experience creating project‑management plans that define scope, schedule, cost estimates, milestones and risk‑management activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Self‑motivated, critically minded and able to think and communicate in terms of process flow.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Management, Operations, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ electrical construction procurement or sales/quotation experience.
  • Preferred:
    Experience with a switch gear electrical manufacturer or a distributor performing takeoffs and quotes.
  • Preferred certifications:
    Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Chain Management (CPSM) or equivalent supply‑chain procurement certificate.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • In‑depth knowledge of the electrical construction industry – switch gear, transformers, generators, UPS, ATS, PDU, STS.
  • Ability to access internal procurement systems and perform external market analysis (trends, pricing, capacity).
  • Proficiency reading Electrical Single‑Line Diagrams and producing Bill‑of‑Goods takeoffs.
  • Skilled in developing estimates for bids and projects involving the above equipment.
  • Experience with supplier relationship management, performance reviews and risk mitigation.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Self‑motivated, driven to succeed and able to visualize process flow.
Travel

Up to 25%

Working Conditions
  • Work primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions; occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Noise level generally low to medium; can be louder on job sites.
