The Assistant Project Manager (APM) is an entry‑level project management position where you will learn and develop competency in our core duties while supporting the Project Management team. The role includes administrative and construction support responsibilities.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:- Manage project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, return for information, and meeting minutes.
- Oversee project activities as assigned by the Project Manager, including planning, coordinating, resolving problem areas, and ensuring all company/project policies, procedures, and standards are maintained.
- Maintain change orders, submittals, and document (drawing) control logs. Prepare required logs and other project documentation for construction meetings.
- Responsible for contract submittals that are accurate and timely.
- Responsible for creating and issuing subcontractor contracts.
- Responsible for the assembly and timely delivery of the owner and maintenance manuals.
- Ensure that the project quality control plan is followed.
- Interact with subcontractors to ensure receipt of correct documentation and drawing for the owner and maintenance manuals.
- Maintain the warranty log up to date.
- Attend company/project meetings with clients, subcontractors, etc., and provide project management support.
- Cooperate with and technically assist field personnel assigned to the area of responsibility.
- Monitor other contractors' activities and progress.
- Create job information sheets and establish job files.
- Prepare price change orders, project reports, and documentation.
- Work with payroll to ensure accurate payroll information.
- Knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, equipment, and methods.
- Tactful and professional demeanor with the ability to interact effectively with managers, employees, vendors, and others.
- Strong organizational, record‑keeping, and follow‑up skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated excellence in organization and time management.
- Ability to identify and meet customers' expectations and requirements.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.);
Oracle preferred. - Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
- Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
- Interact professionally with all levels of employees, management, vendors, clients, and others.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field.
- Minimum one year of experience in a construction‑related role.
- Combination of training, education, and relevant work experience that is equivalent.
Up to 25% travel.
WORKING CONDITIONS:- General work environment – primarily on active construction sites, involving sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending.
- Noise level typically low to medium.
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
